Heat Lightning in the Morning Hours
oil on canvas
48" x 60"
2011

On certain summer nights In Indiana my mother would get my sister, brother and I out of bed and drive us to a stretch of vast grassy overgrown flat fields and farm land. I credit my mother, those nights urging us up on top of the station wagon rooftop watching heat lightning late into an August sky, for my sense of preternatural realism.
